A lightweight rocket in new threads: our JEALOUS 10.0 enters the 2022 season with slight revisions, and the classy, dark blue paintwork immediately catches the eye. The weight was reduced as well: the specified Reynolds Blacklabel Carbon wheelset is an upgrade. It saves a few grams of weight, which you then immediately notice when you start pedaling. At the same time, it is very torsion-resistant and also looks good. The basis for the low complete bike weight is the super light JEALOUS carbon frame at about 950 grams, which with its racy geometry will spur you on directly to peak performance, but will also spoil you with comfort. At the front is the Rock Shox SID SL Ultimate, which can be locked by TwistLoc in a jiffy for a sprint and sporty-firm in the open state rips over the trail with you. The SRAM XO1 Eagle gear system with its enormous range gives you the right gear ratio in every situation, so that you can fully attack both the steep climb and the downhill. For hard braking maneuvers, you have Magura's MT8 Pro on board, which decelerates you and your JEALOUS at any time in a controlled manner and only minimally affects the balance. For a lot of grip and best rolling behavior with minimal weight, we mount the cross country top tires from the Schwalbe product range: the combination of Racing Ray and Racing Ralph in the Super Race variant and trendy transparent skin look sets the benchmark in weight, grip and puncture protection. Mitte des letzten Jahres stellte die deutsche Bikeschmiede RADON das neue Race-Hardtail JEALOUS vor. Kurz darauf vermeldete Altmeister Ralph Näf, dass sein Team auf diesem Gefährt im Weltcup unterwegs sein wird. Und als dann in den Medien durchsickerte, dass sich das federleichte Bike auch noch genial fahren sollte, war für uns klar, dass wir dieses Rad testen müssen. Wird die Konkurrenz bei dieser Rennmaschine tatsächlich “jealous”?

Diesmal wurde mir das neue Flaggschiff der Firma Radon, das Jealous, angetragen, um es zwei Monate lang über Stock und Stein zu prügeln. Nach Durchsicht der acht verfügbaren Modelle (Preisbereich: € 1.999 – 6.499,-, wobei einige Varianten schon jetzt deutlich reduziert sind) auf Radons Homepage war mein Favorit rasch gefunden: Das 10.0 SL, wohlfeil um 4.999 Euro.

Frame
Nice and clean comes the freshly designed JEALOUS 1x frame for the Season 2022 therefore. The brake line at the rear are routed internally, so that the frame silhouette is not disturbed by anything. Positive Side effect of this is that on the drive side no openings on the frame are no longer present, which emphasizes the stealth look of the JEALOUS underlines. What has remained is the low frame weight of approx. 950 grams and the World Cup-proven geometry, which has already given us several Podium placements. Even a world championship title was the JEALOUS already won.
