SWOOP AL 9.0 is an extremely popular perennial favourite in the RADON range that continues to focus on its core competencies: the superb frame serves as the basis, rounded off with perfectly assembled equipment for all trail needs. The lightweight aluminium frame houses a top-class Fox suspension system: the Fox 36 Float Performance Elite with the ingenious FIT GRIP2 cartridge provides plenty of adjustment options at the front. The fork offers 170mm travel and full reserve on the trail, but also doesn't put unnecessary strain on the scales. The perfect match for the 36 mm fork is the Float X2 Performance rear shock with its 170 mm travel, which completes the sublime chassis and can be calmed down for steep climbs with a lever. For the long tour or the necessary access to the next run in the park, a complete SRAM GX Eagle groupset is specified, which shifts tight and precisely and makes every climb a breeze with its enormous range. The cockpit is designed for full control, the Turbine R combination from Race Face is perfectly shaped so that you feel integrated into the bike straight away. The basic idea for the SWOOT AL 9.0 is to leave the brake open as much as possible. But if you do need it, the SRAM Code R and large discs are a powerful anchor that can also be finely dosed. Light and stiff SUNringlé Düroc SD37 Expert wheels with reinforced axles complete the enduro package and accommodate the grippy Maxxis Minion tire duo of DHF and DHR II. SWOOP AL 9.0 - a legend!

Choose your meal: tour, trail or park! With the FlipChip technology you can quickly change the geometry of the SWOOP 170, with the steer angle and seat angle changing in the different positions of the shock mount. This way you adapt the bike perfectly to yourself and your route. A new feature is the alignment of the frame on 29" wheels and tires, which further improves descent behaviour.

Overall, RADON have put together a very capable bike at a reasonable price. Aside from a couple of spec nuances, the bike provides a very good option for those looking for a hard-charging enduro machine. The rear suspension configuration requires challenging terrain before it comes into its own. Pedaling performance are certainly low on the list of priorities in its design so if you’re a climber or looking for a long distance ride, this may not be your ideal choice. If you live to shred the DH, then a burlier set of tires, and perhaps a stiffer rear wheel, the SWOOP will be a formidable machine for the gnarliest of trails. This is a bike made for getting rad-on!

The RADON SWOOP 8.0 2019 impressed us with truly outstanding value for money. The geometry is spot on, the suspension is excellent and the spec is well chosen and convincing throughout. The bike climbs very well and it descends superbly on a wide variety of trails. Of course, you have to accept minor flaws in the finish, but we can’t remember ever riding a bike capable of offering such a good time for so little money. Brilliant!

Das RADON SWOOP 170 hat uns von Anfang an begeistern können. Für unseren Test hatten wir die 10.0-Version zur Verfügung, die nicht nur durch den „stealthy“ Look in mattschwarz, sondern auch durch die durchdachte Ausstattung zu überzeugen wusste. Am meisten Pluspunkte sammelte das SWOOP jedoch mit seiner ausgereiften und abfahrtsorientierten Geometrie.
