UCI DH World Cup #4 - Val di Sole

09.07.2018

Coming into the mid-season is coming to the hardest races of the year. First the hardest track of the year in Val di Sole, Italy, and then the steepest track of the year in Vallnord, Andorra. The Weekend started with rainy training sessions and a wet qualification, but on raceday the conditions were fine. On back to back World Cup races, this is the true test of strengh.

Faustin Figaret demonstrated his strengh once again and proved, why he is one of france fastest riders. His racerun was good enough for a 23rd position and he moved up to 25th position in the overall ranking.

Johannes Fischbach had bad luck and crashed in his qualifiying run. Unfortionately he broke his hock and couldn't compete in the race. Fishi is expected to be back in La Bresse. We wish Fishi all the best and a fast recovery.

Faustin Figaret:

"Hello,

this weekend was held the World Cup in Val Di Sole in Italy. This legendary track is probably the most difficult of the season. Indeed it is long, technical, dangerous and very physical. The track consists mainly of roots, rock gardens and soft ground.

I apprehended this competition differently from others. I took the time to find the right lines and settings on the bike before looking to be fast. It also allowed me to save myself physically.
This strategy paid off as I finished 23rd in the final. This result is satisfactory and means a lot to me.
The performance of this weekend allows me to take the 25th place in the world cup overall ranking.

The next race is the Andorra World Cup in La Massana which will take place from July 11 to 14 on a very steep track.

I am currently recovering to reach 100% of my abilities for this fifth round of the world cup."
