UCI Mountainbike DH World Cup #2 - Cairns Australia

Der "Kampf im Dschungel" ist vorbei - es war heiß, matschig und mehr als spannend! Für das Radon Magura Factory Team war es einerfolgreiches Wochenende, leider auch mit einer schlechten Nachricht.

Während der Vorbereitung stürzte Nick Beer hart und brach sich sein Schlüsselbein - ein abruptes Ende von einem spannenden Rennwochenende. Nick ist inzwischen zurück in der Schweiz um beste Genesung und Aufbautraining zu bekommen - wenn alles gut verheilt, wäre eine Rückkehr bereits zum kommenden Weltcup in Fort William realistisch.

Unser französischer Fahrer, Faustin Figaret, hatte leider Pech: nachdem er einen guten Run im Training hatte und eine Top 20 Platzierung einfahren konnte, wurde ihm ein Platter Reifen in der Qualifikation zum Verhängnis. So musste er das Finale leider von der Zuschauerseite aus anschauen. Die Form ist allerdings auf hohem Niveau, sodass er mit voller Motivation auf das nächste Rennen schaut.

Carina Cappellari konnte ihr bisher bestes World-Cup Ergebnis einfahren.

“Contrary to qualifying, the track during the finals was dry and fast. I am happy with my race run which resulted in my best World Cup result ever. Still I made some mistakes in the flat bottom section, which killed my speed. I have the feeling there’s more in the tank than this 7th place”

Benny Strasser blickt mit gemischten Gefühlen auf das Wochenende:

“My bike went prime this weekend, due to the great effort of our mechanics, i had so much fun on this awesome course. 

During my final run i somehow messed it up at two important spots on the track, which pushed me back a couple of seconds. 

I am not really satisfied about the result, but i am happy with the progress we made, we are an a good way with the team.”

Johannes Fischbach konnte einen guten Run abliefern und landete als bester Deutscher auf dem 24. Platz.

“24th spot at the finish line.....After a 9th place at split one. I lost some speed in the middle part of the course which cost me at the end. It crazy how close the racing is at the moment. I am happy that things are going in the right direction. This gives me a lot of motivation for the upcoming events."

Nach einem durchmischten Auftakt in Lourdes sind wir nun glücklich, dass die Entwicklung deutlich nach oben zeigt - wir freuen uns auf das kommende World-Cup Rennen in Fort William!
