UCI DH World Cup #2 - Fort William

06.06.2018

Congrats from the RADON BIKES crew to Faustin Figaret for showing a strong performance on the hard pack of Fort William with a solid 22th place!

Johannes Fischbach wasn't able to perform at his peak all weekend as he was treated unfair by the weather gods during qualifying, only managing the 67th place and therefore not qualifying for the final run. In addition he was also suffering from a bad food poisining all weekend - but he's already hungry for a comeback at Leogang.

Faustin Figaret:

"Hello,

last weekend was the legendary Fort William's World Cup in Scotland. All the world's best riders met on this occasion. The track was as usual, long, rough and fast. The upper part consisted of rock garden and raised corners while the lower part was a combination of pedalling parts and jumps.

Friday, during training, I tried many trajectories and different mechanical settings on my bike. The sensations arrived quickly on this track that I know well. This first day closes with a 9th place in the timed practice.

On Saturday the rain arrived thirty minutes before the start of the first rider. This made the rocks more slippery and the turns more sticky. I decided to save the slippery parts and to engage more when the grip allowed. This strategy paid off as I qualify 21st.

The next day, during the final the sun was back, I felt good and the bike worked perfectly. These conditions allowed me to make a good run and finish 22nd of this world cup.

I'm happy with my weekend and I'm looking forward to continuing the season in a good dynamic. This competition was very important for me since it is a track that I particularly like."

The next race is the world cup in Leogang in Austria this weekend. I have fully recovered and I am ready to give the best of myself on this new competition.
Thank you for your support!

In sporting terms,

Faustin FIGARET
