3 Podiums for the Radon Magura Factory Team in an action packed race weekend

17.05.2016

Our Radon Magura Factory team riders where spread over the globe this weekend. While the DH crew was presented at the 10th anniversary of the IXS Dirt Masters Festival, our Enduro specialists where racing in Ireland for the 3rd round of the Enduro World Series.
IXS DIRTMASTERS FESTIVAL
For 10 years now riders and fans gather in Winterberg Germany for Europe’s biggest freeride Mountainbike festival. With over 500 riders from 17 countries the IXS German DH cup is the biggest events of the weekend.
Our team riders where on a roll this weekend. After Saturday’s qualifying, which were held under perfect dry conditions, all the team riders where inside the top 10.
Sunday’s finals turned out to be a total different ball game. After heavy overnight rain and snow the track was completely soaked with water..
This didn’t bother our “French bullit” Faustin Figaret. After crossing the finish line in 2nd place during seeding, he also finished in 2nd during the finals.“IXS Dirt Masters was a blast! It was my first time here and i wasn’t expecting that the festival would be this huge. I had a really good weekend, i am so happy to be on the box. This 2nd place finish feels so good. Thanks to the team for a perfect job, especially our Scottish mechanic who was feeling like at home with this kind of weather ;)"
Also our girl rider, Carina Cappellari, raced her pink Radon Swoop 200 into 2nd place. Only former world champion Morgane Charre was just a bit to fast for her.“I felt comfortable in the wet conditions, during Sunday morning’s warm up practice. I am happy that i could bring my run down and finished in 2nd. IXS Dirtmasters festival was such a blast for me”.
After last weekend win expectations for Johannes Fischbach were high. After qualifying in 4th, with a very a little margin to the top 3, his eyes were on the price. Unfortunately a crash ended his aspirations which threw him back to 6th place in the finals.“I just had one goal, and that was to win. Somewhere at the bottom of the track, in a right hander, i lost my front and crashed. Well.. some you win and some you loose..”.
Our own Magura engineer Benny “The Streets" Strasser was struggling a bit in the wet conditions. At the end of the day still a respectable 14th place.“Conditions where tough today, the snow turned the race into a gambling game. I kind of lost it in the middle part.. a spectator even shouted to me: it’s not a wheelchair race… But the track was really good and i can’t wait for revenge soon!”.
We look back at a great IXS Dirtmasters festival with two 2nd places.

ENDURO WORLD SERIES IRELANDThe 3rd stop of the EWS brought our Radon Magura Factory team athletes, James Shirley and Raphaela Richter, to Wicklow Ireland.50 kilometers of pedalling, 1750 meters of climbing and 7 timed stages.. welcome to Enduro racing.
James Shirley was feeling at home in Ireland, the stages were to his liking. After an all but clean stage 1, stage 2 totally killed his flow.. a double puncture spoilt his day. James still managed to get in time to the next stage but a good result was long gone.“The weekend was a ‘good craic’ as they say at home and here in Ireland. Glorious weather, fun trials, great Radon Slide 140 bike and a huge amount of rowdy spectators. Unfortunately for me i didn’t have a clean stage 1 and then a double puncture in 2. The race for me was clearly over by this point, but i carried on and enjoyed the rest of the race. Hopefully lady luck will come my way soon.."
Raphael Richter had a much better day, this 18 year old girl battled her way to the front in the Women U21 category, but at the end had to settle for 2nd place!“Raceday was very long for me, as the day moved on i got more and more tired. This is probably one of the reasons why i made so much mistakes and even crashed twice on stage 5. This is where i messed up my lead, and at the end lost 11 sec to the first place finisher.

Upcoming events:In 2 weeks the Enduro and DH riders will meet each other for the BIKE Festival in Willingen. Raphaela will defend her leading position in the SSES also Johannes Fischbach is defending his leading position in the European DH cup. Hope to see you all in WIllingen in 2 weeks
