Radon Magura Factory Team @UCI Downhill World Cup #4 Leogang

15.06.2016

Johannes Fischbach in the mix with the top guns
After sunny Fort William, it was time for Leogang to welcome the World Cup DH riders. The predicted thunderstorms and heavy rain on race day never came, nevertheless the Radon Magura Factory team left Leogang with a bang.

Qualifying: The overnight rain, had made the Leogang DH course very tricky. The steep, slippery root and rock sections took a lot of casualties in qualifying. For the Radon Magura Team things looked very good after qualifying.
The euphoria was huge after Saturdays qualifying.Johannes Fischbach finally did shake the monkeys of his back, and laid down the kind of run he’s capable of. He stormed into the top 10, and pushed his Radon Swoop200 across the finish line in a stunning 8th place. Also our young french rider Faustin Figaret, who said he had taken an fairly save an easy run, qualified within the top 25.Nick Beer, who is coming back from an injury qualified in a respectable 52th place. Also our girl rider Carina Cappellari qualified for Sundays finale.
Unfortunately Benny Strasser had some problems to adapt to the wet and slippery conditions, and failed to qualify for Sundays finals.

Raceday: After days of mud preparations and sleepless nights as a result of a doubtful weather forecast, the course dried up fast on race day, but was it dry enough in the tricky sections..?The mixed conditions left riders and mechanics scratching their head.. which tires to choose and how hard can i attack the track.
Level of riding at the top continues to increase, competitions is so tide, you can’t afford any mistake. This must be one of the reasons why it’s so damn good to watch these races!
Carina Cappellari was the first team rider on the hill. A crash in the first turn immediately spoilt a good result for our girl rider. Also Nick and Faustin made some mistakes in their runs and couldn’t give a follow up to their good qualifying results.
As time went by, tension went up. With only 8 riders left on top of the hill it was Fischbach time.Wow… 0.049 back on the first split… 0.855 back in the 2nd split, he’s in touch... and his favorite part of the track is still to come!NO!… a mechanical!
The team showed this weekend to be in touch with the top guns of the F1 of mountainbiking. The mechanical maybe has spoilt a top 10 results, but couldn’t retain the attention of the media that Fischbach is in the mix with the big dogs!

Pinkbike: "Radon Magura's Johannes Fischbach finally laid down the kind of run he's capable of this afternoon, smashing through the front door of the top ten for 8th place"

Red Bull TV: “Coming from 4X you would not expect him to perform that well on wet roots and this kind of technical track"

MTB Rider: "Johannes Fischbach (Radon Magura Factory) hat eindeutig gezeigt, dass die 4X Zeiten passe sind und mit ihm auch international zu rechnen ist!"

This weekend has been a huge confident boost for the team, and we will take this to the next World Cup in Lenzerheide CH.It’s no longer a question of “if", but a question of “when" do we get the first top 10 result in World Cup racing..On the the next one!
