The Radon Magura Factory Team dominates the Willingen BikeFestival

30.05.2016

2 wins and a total of 6 podiums spots in multiple mountainbike disciplines. It’s an understatement to say that the Willingen BIKEFestival was successful for the Radon Magura Factory Team.In all disciplines where the team was at the start, they took home the win or at least a podium spot, sensational!

IXS European Downhill Cup #2

This is the terrain of our Radon Swoop 200 machine. After Fischi’s win during round #1 in Slovenia and the 2nd place of Carina, expectations in Willingen where high.

Fridays training went down under perfect conditions, sun and no wind. The overnight rain caused a dramatic change, which made the track conditions during Saturdays qualifying very tricky. The tricky conditions took the better of Carina and Faustin, the both crashed. Faustin showed some awesome speed on his Radon Swoop 200, by taking the fastest split time, even faster than the fastest qualifier of the day team buddy Fischbach.
On Sunday Carina Cappellari recovered from her mistake, and took home a solid 2nd place in the Elite women finale.“A little crash in one of the slippery turns spoiled a good qualifying result. On Sundays i had lot’s of fun on the dry and grippy track, which resulted in a good 2nd place. These results and the results of the other team riders get me in the right flow for next weeks World Cup in Fort William”.
Fischbach and Faustin where having fun all weekend, which shows in this official track preview on Pinkbike:http://www.pinkbike.com/news/ixs-european-downhill-cup-round-two-willingen-germany-track-preview-video-2016.html As a result of his bad qualifying, Faustin Figaret came down the hill pretty early and easily put down the fastest time. At the end of the day his time was good enough for a 3rd place.“Willingen was such a nice festival. Track was fun to ride, but hard to race. I am really happy to be on the podium with my team mate Fischi. This results gives me a lot of confidence for the race in Fort William and i am looking forward going there. Thank you team for an amazing job this weekend”.
Johannes Fischbach was on a roll this weekend, going 1 - 1 in qualifying and the finale race.“The track was fun to ride during training. As a result of the rain the track got even more technical. It was so hard not to make mistakes when you were riding on the edge.I am happy to take home the win and extend my leading position in the overall. A special thanks to Gavin our team mechanic, who has been working so hard to get the Radon Swoops in perfect shape for us”

Specialized SRAM Enduro Series #2

Over 350 Enduro riders took the trip to the Willingen for the 2nd stop of the SSES.The organization did a great your preparing 6 special stages, riders were happy with the loamy, technical trails around Willingen.
Raphaela Richter and her Radon Slide 140 turned out to be a perfect match and unstoppable for all the other riders. She took the overall by a great marching, and won all 6 stages.“I was feeling a bit tired after yesterdays training. At stage 1 i felt a bit unsure, how slippery would it be after the overnight rain, so i didn’t go in full gas. From stage to stage i felt more confident with the Slide 140 and the tricky conditions. I found myself a good flow, and did not crash. So happy with the win, bring on the upcoming EWS races”.
Team partner James Shirley came all the way from Scotland to compete in Willingen“The race was a vast improvement over the previous years with the addition of some fresh new trials. Heavy rain Saturday night made for difficult conditions on sunday. In hindsight i probably should have ran Dirty Dan tires on my Swoop170, as i made some mistakes on the slippery terrain. Either way, it was an enjoyable event and i am satisfied with my 12th position".
